How TDI Promoted PIMEC 2025: A Media Partnership Case Study

For an international maritime expo to reach the corridors of embassies, foreign ministries, and public, simple media reporting won’t do the job.

It requires strategic media partnership, one that understands its audience and how to generate interest, intrigue, and engagement.

And so The Diplomatic Insight (TDI) joined hands with the 2nd Pakistan International Maritime Expo and Conference (PIMEC 2025) as its national media partner

Held at Expo Center Karachi, this four-day flagship maritime event and conference brought businesses, military & naval companies, policy stakeholders, academics, and journalists working across the maritime industry.

The mission of our partnership: to amplify Pakistan’s maritime potential globally to an audience that matters: diplomats, ambassadors, policymakers, business leaders, and academics.

Here’s what we did to pursue our mission:

An Intro to PIMEC’s Second Edition

But first, what was PIMEC and how its aims matched ours?

To keep it short, PIMEC is Pakistan’s international maritime platform, organized by the Pakistan Navy in collaboration with the Ministry of Maritime Affairs. The 2025 edition brought multiple exhibitors and participants who showcased cutting-edge naval technology, maritime defense systems, shipbuilding innovations, and blue economy opportunities.

PIMEC’s core purpose aligns perfectly with TDI and its parent Diplomatic Insight Group: to facilitate relations among international businesses, governments, and inter-governmental entities.

Coming back to how we pursued the goals of this partnership, let’s go through the steps one by one.

Digital Content Creation & Distribution

The Diplomatic Insight is not just a reporting media, so we didn’t wait for the event to begin. We partnered to generate interest, to create awareness well before the event began. We went for a phased execution, launching our content campaign weeks before PIMEC’s opening ceremony.

We published 20 PIMEC-related articles across three strategic phases, each designed to meet specific audience needs and capture different stages of interest.

1. Pre-PIMEC Content (24 October – 2 November)

Before anyone arrived at Expo Center Karachi, we needed to answer fundamental questions for our global audience: What is PIMEC? Why does it matter? What makes this edition significant?

At this stage, we created 8 articles that created curiosity amongst our audience.

  • Pakistan’s Blue Economy & Maritime Industry – The blog that connected to the wider theme of the expo. The blog provided context on Pakistan’s economic potential in marine economy and how local and foreign businesses and stakeholders can leverage this potential.
  • Exhibitors Line Up for PIMEC 2025 – We highlighted distinguished exhibitors setting up spaces in PIMEC. The variety of exhibitors included maritime tech providers, defense contractors, fisheries & maritime companies, government-sector agencies, and more business providing relevant products & services.
  • Looking Back at PIMEC’s 2023 First Edition – Though The Diplomatic Insight partnered with PIMEC for the first time, this wasn’t PIMEC’s first edition. So we looked back, in hindsight, at what made PIMEC a success the first time and what it would take to make the second time a charm.

2. During PIMEC (4–6 November)

When PIMEC opened its doors, we shifted to real-time coverage that captured the energy, significance, and diplomatic weight of the event. Our team went beyond mere press releases to deliver the stories that mattered:

3. Post-PIMEC

After the expo concluded, we shifted focus to analyzing its impact and building its legacy.

Public Contributions

Along with the content produced by our team, we also received PIMEC-related Op-Ed submission from one of our regular contributors. DJ Mustafa Kamal, writes in his article,

“For decades, Pakistan’s national planning has been landlocked — centered on agriculture, industry, and energy corridors running through deserts and plains. But as I listened to the discussions at PIMEC, it became clear that a shift is underway. The sea, long treated as a boundary to guard, is finally being seen as an opportunity to build.”

Strategic Website Banner Placement

Throughout our partnership, we featured a prominent banner linking to PIMEC’s official website across all pages of thediplomaticinsight.com.

PIMEC 2025

Placed since June, this top placement generated:

  • 590 outbound links to the PIMEC website
  • 3000+ clicks on the banner.
  • Continuous visibility to every visitor browsing TDI
  • Enhanced domain authority and SEO value for PIMEC’s digital presence

The row for “pimec.gov.pk” is highlighted in green, showing 590 outbound links, first seen on June 14, 2025, and last seen on October 15, 2025. Other domain names in the table are partially redacted.

This touchpoint ensured that anyone exploring TDI’s diplomatic and international affairs content was consistently exposed to PIMEC.

On-Ground Presence

While our digital strategy created widespread awareness, we also established a physical presence at PIMEC 2025. The Diplomatic Insight set up an exhibitor’s stall in the expo’s media pavilion.

Exclusive communities that typical media partnerships cannot access. This ensured PIMEC’s message reached decision-makers directly.

The Impact

Our strategic media partnership delivered measurable results that transformed PIMEC’s digital footprint and global visibility.

Search Dominance:

As search interest for “PIMEC” peaked during the four-day event, The Diplomatic Insight’s articles dominated search results:

  • Google Search Rankings: TDI blogs consistently ranked in the top 3 positions for PIMEC-related queries, immediately after the official PIMEC sources
  • Google News Featured: Our real-time coverage appeared prominently in Google News during the event
  • AI Search Integration: Our comprehensive articles became authoritative sources, with AI search engines like GPT Search, Perplexity AI, and Google AI Mode citing TDI content in PIMEC-related queries.

As search interest for “PIMEC” peaked during the 4-day period, our blogs were already ranking on Google Search and Google News in the top 3 and getting visitors interested in the event.

Engagement:

  • Direct visitors: Our PIMEC coverage attracted 1000+ interested and engaged readers
  • 590+ backlinks: Strengthened PIMEC’s online discoverability and domain authority
  • Multi-platform reach: Content distributed across LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and our newsletter reached 20,000+ diplomatic and business professionals

Narrative Framing:

Beyond metrics, we successfully positioned PIMEC within broader geopolitical and economic narratives that matter to our audience:

  • Pakistan’s blue economy potential
  • Regional maritime security cooperation and naval diplomacy
  • Investment opportunities in Pakistan’s maritime sector

To Sum Up

Our partnership with PIMEC 2025 demonstrates that effective media coverage requires strategic planning, phased content delivery, multi-platform distribution, and deep understanding of both the event’s objectives and the audience’s needs.

The results speak for themselves: dominant search rankings, hundreds of backlinks, thousands of engaged readers, and content that AI search engines cite as authoritative sources. More importantly, we positioned Pakistan’s maritime sector within the broader narratives of blue economy development, regional cooperation, and international trade.

This case study reinforces what we’ve learned through strategic media partnerships: when a media organization becomes a genuine stakeholder in an event’s success, the impact multiplies exponentially.
