What's Happening at Pakistan International Maritime Expo & Conference 2025

The second edition of the Pakistan International Maritime Expo and Conference (PIMEC 2025) is set to take place from 3 to 6 November 2025 at the Karachi Expo Centre.

The event is being organized by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs in collaboration with the Pakistan Navy and co-organized by Badar Expo Solutions.

At the event’s soft launch in Islamabad earlier this year, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the blue economy as Pakistan’s new economic frontier. PIMEC’s second edition is about to showcase just that.

The event is expected to host participation from over 30 countries, showcasing cutting-edge maritime technologies, ship-building innovations, port management systems, smart logistics, and sustainable shipping concepts.

The conference segment will bring together policymakers, industry experts, and naval officials to discuss key themes such as port security, smart shipping, and the impact of climate change on maritime operations.

This year, the Maritime Conference is scheduled for the second day and will be held under the banner of “Harnessing the Blue Economy for Sustainable Development.” The conference lies at the heart of PIMEC, and the organizers view it as;

“a thought-leadership program where world-renowned speakers, defense strategists, industry leaders, and academic scholars present their insights on maritime security, trade corridors, port development, ship building, and environmental sustainability.”

The four-day program for PIMEC 2025 is lined up with cultural dances, navy band displays, rifle drill shows, gala dinner, multiple receptions, ‘dignitary of the day’ visits, maritime project display, exhibitors’ awards, and much  more alongside the exhibition and multiple rounds of specified hours for B2B, B2G, and G2G meetings.

The rifle drill show, Maritime Conference, and the exhibition are open to all. The organizers have planned extensive networking sessions and corporate engagement zones, to encourage investment and partnerships in Pakistan’s growing blue-economy ecosystem.

Exclusive receptions are also scheduled for visiting foreign delegates, hosted by the province’s Chief Minister or Governor and the Federal Minister of Maritime Affairs. A gala dinner will also take place on the second day, in addition to projects display and exhibitors’ awards which are lined up for the third day.

The federal government is expected to use the event as a platform to unveil major policy frameworks, including a National Maritime Policy, a Shipping Policy, and a Fisheries and Aquaculture Policy.

These initiatives are designed to align with Pakistan’s long-term vision of developing a 100-billion-dollar maritime economy by 2047.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has reaffirmed provincial support for the event, describing it as an opportunity to position Karachi as a regional maritime hub while creating jobs and boosting economic activity.

Preparations are under way to accommodate international delegates, manage city logistics, and coordinate between provincial and federal agencies to ensure the smooth execution of the event.

With both commercial and defense stakeholders involved, PIMEC 2025 promises to highlight the intersection of national security and economic opportunity.
