Islamabad (TDI): China has encouraged Pakistan to continue its diplomatic engagement aimed at reducing tensions in the Middle East, particularly regarding the situation around the Strait of Hormuz.
The message came during a phone conversation between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, according to China’s state-run Xinhua News Agency.
During the discussion, Wang Yi praised Pakistan’s recent efforts in facilitating communication between Iran and the United States. He noted that Islamabad’s role had contributed to extending a temporary ceasefire and lowering tensions in the region.
The Chinese foreign minister expressed hope that Pakistan would continue playing a constructive role in encouraging dialogue and helping restore stability, calling peace in the region a shared goal of the international community.

Dar briefed his Chinese counterpart on Pakistan’s recent diplomatic contacts involving Tehran and Washington and appreciated Beijing’s support for Islamabad’s peace initiatives. He also emphasized the importance of continued coordination between Pakistan and China to support regional stability.
China reiterated its support for Pakistan’s mediation efforts and stressed the importance of maintaining stability and uninterrupted navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global energy supplies.
The two sides also reviewed preparations for the upcoming 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Pakistan and China. Both countries agreed to expand strategic communication, enhance high-level exchanges, and further strengthen their long-standing cooperative partnership.

The conversation also touched on cooperation at multilateral platforms, including the United Nations, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to supporting multilateral diplomacy amid ongoing global uncertainty.
The telephonic contact took place ahead of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s expected visit to Beijing.
