Ankara (TDI): The Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with Belgium’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maxime Prévot in Ankara, on Wednesday.
The meeting took place during the Belgian Economic Mission official visit to Türkiye, a major five-day event presided over by Queen Mathilde of Belgium.
The discussions focused on deepening the strategic and economic partnership between the two nations, which saw bilateral trade exceed as $13 billion in 2025. The engagement is part of a broader effort to increase trade and investment opportunities.
The Belgium’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affair Prévot, who also oversees European Affairs and Development Cooperation, joined the mission in Ankara after sessions in Istanbul earlier this week.
Both ministers discussed the potential for further growth in innovative sectors and growth-oriented partnerships. The Turkish Minister Fidan noted that the visit of nearly 400 Belgian participants reflects the high level of interest in Türkiye’s market.
The current diplomatic dialogue focuses on Türkiye’s role within the European security framework, the Minister Prévot has previously described Türkiye as a essential NATO ally and a guardian of the continent’s southeast border.

This situation is further involved by ongoing regional challenges that require close coordination between Brussels and Ankara. Beyond political talks, the delegation is working to facilitate a more predictable environment for long-term investment.
The Turkish Foreign Minister Fidan emphasized that the economic mission aims to lead a new era of industrial cooperation, particularly in technology and sustainable growth.
The Turkish government has reflected that it remains ready to provide necessary support to Belgian investors to bridge the current economic gap. This diplomatic engagement marks a major point in the relationship between Ankara and Brussels.
The ministers have highlighted that there is no possibility of discussing European security architecture without Türkiye’s active participation as the successful conclusion of this economic mission is expected to lead to new bilateral agreements in the coming months.
They continue to work toward shared prosperity through these high-level diplomatic exchanges and enhance economic ties among both nations.
