Beijing (TDI): The Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon at the Great Hall of the People to discuss deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations, on Tuesday.
The meeting was also attended by State Councilor Wu Zhenglong, the key component of President Rahmon state visit to China is currently on-going from 11-14 May 2026.
Premier Li highlighted that China is ready to align the Belt and Road Initiative with Tajikistan’s national development strategy to increase economic modernization and regional stability.
This engagement follows high-level talks between President Xi Jinping and President Rahmon, which included a formal signing ceremony for multiple cooperation documents.
Both leaders focused on expanding trade volumes and broadening investment in mineral resources and green industries.

Premier Li noted that the digital economy and clean energy sectors represent crucial frontiers for future bilateral collaboration.
Both nations aim to lead new projects in infrastructure and transport to improve regional logistics. This situation is further involved by the shared goal of maintaining stability through the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and other multilateral mechanisms.
The collaboration between China’s industrial capacity and Tajikistan’s resource potential is a cornerstone of their deepening ties.
Beyond traditional sectors the delegation is working to facilitate a more resilient partnership in technology and the digital economy.

Premier Li emphasized that China supports Tajikistan’s efforts toward industrialization and modern agricultural practices.
The Chinese government remains committed to helping Tajikistan achieve its long-term development goals through increased technical exchange. Both nations must focus on green energy transitions to ensure sustainable growth in the Central Asian region.
This diplomatic engagement marks a major point in the 2026 diplomatic calendar for Central Asia as the leaders have highlighted that the friendship between Beijing and Dushanbe serves as a model for good-neighborly relations and enhance cooperation.
The implementation of the newly signed agreements is expected to significantly boost the flow of goods and services across the border.
