Chinese Ambassador congratulates Pakistan for hosting OIC Summit

Islamabad, 21 December 2021 (TDI): Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong congratulated Pakistan for successfully hosting the 17th Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit in Islamabad, Pakistan.

Chinese Foreign Minister also attended the summit in Islamabad.

Nong Rong stated that OIC plays an important role in the cooperation of China and the Islamic world. China has been working on creating a global community based on shared values with a shared future. OIC consists of more than 50 member states. The closer cooperation of China with the Islamic world will help it to achieve its goal of creating a global community.

Nong Rong congratulated the Foreign Minister of Pakistan

The Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan also congratulated the Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mahmood Qureshi for successfully hosting the Council of Foreign Ministers. Nong also attended the council of foreign ministers of the OIC in Islamabad. He was invited by the authorities. He represented the Chinese government at the summit.

OIC also announced a special envoy on Afghanistan at the closing of the 17th Extraordinary Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers. Ambassador Tariq Ali Bakheet, Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian, Cultural, and Social Affairs was selected as the envoy in Afghanistan.

OIC announced to assist the Afghans in their dire humanitarian crisis. It pledged to not leave alone Afghan brothers and sisters in time of need. It agreed to create an assistance fund for Afghanistan. Imran Khan, the host country’s Prime Minister emphasized the horrible crisis of Afghanistan. He urged the member states to help Afghanistan.

Nong Rong also agreed to the statement of the Pakistani Prime Minister. In his congratulatory tweet for the government of Pakistan, he stated that China looks forward to working with OIC to assist Afghanistan in the humanitarian crisis. Note that China has already assisted Afghanistan by providing aid. It has been urging the world to not leave alone Afghanistan in the crisis.
