Pakistan, Turkmenistan to strengthen bilateral trade & cooperation

Islamabad, 7 September 2023 (TDI): Caretaker Federal Minister for Commerce of Pakistan, Dr. Gohar Ejaz, and Ambassador of Turkmenistan in Pakistan, Atadjan Movlamov held an important meeting to increase bilateral trade.

Dr. Gohar pointed out that the meeting was an important step in strengthening trade and economic relations between Pakistan and Turkmenistan as both countries have laid the foundation of joint cooperation with each other.

During the meeting, the Turkmen Ambassador also invited Pakistan to participate in its $5 billion Arkadag Smart City Project.

Aside from that, Ambassador Atadjan Movlamov expressed the need for agricultural products such as rice, sugar, potatoes, and onions from Pakistan.

He went on to state that opening up trade routes and enhancing business relations is Pakistan’s top priority and that he will ensure active participation in exhibitions in Turkmenistan.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Dr. Gohar shared that Pakistan was offered to export construction materials and materials for this project by Turkmenistan.

The Arkadag Smart City Project is a forward-thinking effort aimed at establishing a technologically advanced, environmentally friendly, and socially inclusive urban ecology.

Pakistan and Turkmenistan have a long history of friendship based on shared historical, cultural, and economic links. Over the years, diplomatic relations between the two countries have remained robust.
