Washington (TDI): President Donald Trump is set to receive a classified briefing on Thursday outlining new US military options against Iran, including potential strike plans and special operations scenarios, according to a report by Axios.
The briefing will be delivered by the head of US Central Command, General Brad Cooper, and is expected to cover a range of contingency plans, sources told the publication.
According to the report, one option under review involves a “short and powerful” series of airstrikes targeting Iranian infrastructure. Officials also reportedly prepared plans related to operations aimed at securing key maritime routes in the Strait of Hormuz, potentially involving ground forces.
Another proposal reportedly includes special forces action to secure Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium, reflecting US concerns over Tehran’s nuclear capabilities. The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Caine, is also expected to attend the briefing.

The discussions come amid heightened tensions following months of conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran. A fragile ceasefire has been in place for several weeks, but underlying hostilities remain unresolved.
The war, which began after US-Israeli strikes on Iran in late February, has led to retaliatory attacks across the region, disrupting shipping routes and contributing to global oil market volatility.
Washington has repeatedly stated that Iran’s nuclear program represents a security threat, while Tehran insists its nuclear activities are for peaceful purposes under international agreements.

The situation has also drawn legal and diplomatic scrutiny, with international law experts warning that attacks on civilian infrastructure could raise serious humanitarian concerns under the Geneva Conventions.
The White House and US Central Command have not officially commented on the reported briefing.
