Beijing (TDI): Multinational companies have expressed strong optimism about deepening their collaboration with China in advanced manufacturing, underscoring the potential for mutual growth at the second China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE).
China’s expanding role in global supply chains, its push towards high-tech, intelligent manufacturing, and its focus on sustainability were key themes at the event, where companies from diverse sectors showcased their strategies for leveraging China’s robust manufacturing ecosystem, Xinhua reported.
Gao Lufeng, founder and CEO of Segway-Ninebot, a global leader in smart mobility products, stressed the value of collaborative innovation during a thematic discussion.
“For us, growth is not just about internal advancements but also about leveraging global resources,” he said, pointing to Ninebot’s 2015 acquisition of Segway as a pivotal move for global expansion and brand alignment.
Gao highlighted the transformation underway in Chinese manufacturing, with companies increasingly focusing on smart innovation and brand development.
He described this evolution as a significant step in strengthening China’s global competitiveness within supply chains.
China’s digital transformation in manufacturing also took center stage, as companies at the expo showcased cutting-edge technologies reshaping global supply chains.
Gao emphasized China’s critical role, noting that its manufacturing contributes to over 30% of global production.
Among the multinational participants, GE Healthcare highlighted its advancements in China’s domestic supply chain, unveiling collaborations on key components such as CT tubes, MRI superconducting wires, and ultrasound circuit boards.
Zhang Yihao, president and CEO of GE Healthcare China, described the expo as a crucial platform for fostering international innovation and market integration.
China’s Capabilities in Sustainable Manufacturing
“Sustainability is a pressing need for global supply chains, and China’s capabilities in sustainable manufacturing are a major asset,” Zhang added, noting the importance of resilient supply chains for addressing global healthcare challenges.
Fonterra, the New Zealand dairy giant, also shared its vision for sustainable growth in alignment with China’s “dual carbon” goals. Teh-han Chow, Fonterra’s Greater China CEO, highlighted their partnerships across the value chain to promote green agriculture.

“We are proud to have built a successful bridge between New Zealand and China, fostering business cooperation for the sustainable development of the dairy industry,” Chow remarked.
