Harbin, 27 December 2021 (TDI): The Harbin Ice and Snow World festival began trial operations in the Heilongjiang Province of China, on Saturday. The 820,000-square-meter winter wonderland is one of the leading theme parks in the world. It features large-scale ice and snow sculptures.

The Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival is an annual festival. It was established in 1999. Every year the festival has a different theme. Different activities are held in the park each winter for several months.

Theme of Snow Festival

This year the theme of the festival is “the light of the Winter Olympics shines all over the world.” It is the largest snow and ice festival in the world where the participants are Chinese as well as international.

The theme is with the aim to aid the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 that will begin from February 4, in achieving the goal of engaging approximately 300 million people for the Sports Event.

Background of Snow Festival

Harbin Ice and Snow World is also known as Bingxue Large World. It is was commissioned by Harbin Municipal Government whereas Harbin Cultural Tourism Group sponsors it. Since its inception, the festival has become the most famous winter attraction in the world.

The dreamlike theme park features colorfully aglow ice and snow sculptures. Aside from that the festival also offers interesting cultural activities as well as winter sports.

In 1999, the Harbin Municipal Government built an illuminated icy and snowy Disney Land to compliment the new millennium. Since then, Harbin has become synonymous with the Snow and Ice Festival.
