Islamabad, 24 May 2022 (TDI): Germany’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, Dr. Jasper Wieck called on the Foreign Secretary of Pakistan, Sohail Mahmood. The agenda of the meeting was to exchange views on bilateral ties as well as the Afghanistan situation.
Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood welcomed the German Envoy to Pakistan. During the meeting, he recalled the positive outcomes of their last meeting in March 2022.

Along these lines, he enunciated that Pakistan profoundly treasured its long-standing ties with Germany, bilaterally as well as in the context of the European Union (EU).
Moreover, Pakistan was dedicated to fully extending bilateral collaboration across all fields, particularly investment, trade, people-to-people exchanges, and security.
The Foreign Secretary of Pakistan also highlighted the significance of frequent high-level exchanges and emphasized the myriad events organized to celebrate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Pakistan and Germany.
Furthermore, Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood underscored the necessity for a joint regional strategy toward Afghanistan to accomplish shared objectives.
He stressed that Pakistan’s contributions in this regard are noteworthy and that the global community would help the Afghan people to avert the humanitarian crisis.
In the same vein, Sohail Mahmood underlined the key features of Pakistan’s principled stance on the Ukraine conflict. He reiterated support for a diplomatic and peaceful solution as soon as possible.
Aside from that, the Pakistani Foreign Secretary also apprised the Special Representative of the grave circumstances in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
He pointed out the need for a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute for long-lasting stability and peace in South Asia. While the Special Representative on his part, highlighted the importance Germany attached to its ties with Pakistan.
He also shared his desire to boost bilateral collaboration in various domains. Dr. Jasper Wieck reaffirmed the commitment of Germany while thanking Pakistan for facilitating the evacuation of foreign diplomats, Afghans, and international aid workers from Afghanistan.
Additionally, he reaffirmed the commitment of Germany to cooperate for the promotion of peace and stability in the war-torn country.
