Chinese Investors Launch Major Projects in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek (TDI): In a move aimed at strengthening economic ties, Chinese investors have started construction on four large-scale industrial plants and a new residential compound in Kyrgyzstan’s Naryn region.

The developments include a car assembly plant, an LED lamp factory, a paper goods production facility, and an agricultural drone manufacturing plant.

At a capsule-laying ceremony, Akylbek Japarov, Chairman of Kyrgyzstan’s Cabinet of Ministers, highlighted the milestone as a sign of the “new, elevated level” of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and China.

The Naryn-Shumkar car assembly plant will see an investment of $130 million, with a capacity to produce over 20,000 vehicles annually and create 1,000 jobs.

An additional $10 million will be invested in each of the LED lamp and paper goods facilities, generating over 300 jobs collectively.

Japarov also attended the groundbreaking ceremony for Tien Shan City, a residential complex in Naryn town.

The compound, developed by a Chinese company from Kashgar, will feature six 10-story apartment buildings, along with an administrative building for local government services.

The housing project is expected to be completed within a year, providing modern facilities for the community.

China- Kyrgyzstan Economic Ties

China has become one of Kyrgyzstan’s largest trading partners and investors, primarily through the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which has led to significant projects aimed at modernizing Kyrgyzstan’s infrastructure and enhancing regional connectivity.
