Pakistani Gem & Mineral Companies Shine at China Nanjing International Expo

Nanjing (TDI): Around 10 leading Pakistani gems and minerals companies are proudly showcasing their finest and rarest specimens at the prestigious 2025 China Nanjing (International) Mineral, Gemstone & Fossil Expo, taking place from May 15 to 19.

Now in its third year, the expo has become one of the largest global platforms for natural treasures, drawing over 500 exhibitors from more than 50 countries across a 40,000-square-meter exhibition space.

Representing the rich geological diversity of Pakistan, the exhibitors are displaying a stunning variety of gemstones and minerals from regions such as Gilgit Baltistan, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Among the showcased specimens are emeralds, tourmalines, topaz, morganite, quartz, aquamarine, pyrite, as well as marble and onyx — prized for both jewelry and decorative use.

These high-quality natural resources have captured the attention of international buyers, collectors, and industry experts, according to China Economic Net (CEN).

Pakistan is recognized globally as a key producer of premium gemstones, including emeralds from Swat Valley and pink topaz from Katlang. However, the mining sector currently contributes only 3% to the country’s GDP, despite its vast untapped potential.

In response, the Government of Pakistan recently launched the National Minerals Harmonization Framework 2025 — a strategic initiative introduced during April’s Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum.

The framework aims to streamline investment procedures and establish a more investor-friendly regulatory environment, setting the stage for accelerated growth in the mining sector.

Returning exhibitor Ghulam Mustafa of Fine Art Minerals expressed pride in Pakistan’s mineral heritage. He highlighted that Pakistan possesses extraordinary geological treasures, and our trade ties with China are expanding beyond just gemstones to include industrial minerals.

“The response to our display has been phenomenal—visitors are truly impressed by Pakistan’s natural wealth,” he stated.

Muhammad Sadiq from Fine Nagar Gems & Minerals also returned with an expanded collection. “Last year’s feedback was incredibly positive, and we are very optimistic about this year’s sales and orders,” he said.

He emphasized that Pakistan’s minerals have a competitive edge and that the Chinese market holds huge potential. “We aim to deepen our cooperation in this sector,” he added.

As the event continues, Pakistani exhibitors are hopeful that this global platform will further unlock business opportunities and highlight the country’s remarkable mineral heritage.
