Beirut (TDI): The Israeli military carried out fresh artillery strikes and demolition operations across southern Lebanon on Saturday, as clashes were also reported between Israeli forces and fighters from Hezbollah in the border town of Al-Bayada.
According to Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency, Israeli shelling targeted several southern towns, including Braashit, Safad al-Battikh, Touline, Ghazieh and Froun.
The report said Israeli artillery fire began shortly after midnight and also struck the areas of Majdal Zoun, Mansouri and Beit al-Sayyad.
Heavy machine-gun fire and renewed shelling were later reported around Al-Bayada, where Hezbollah fighters reportedly engaged Israeli troops attempting to advance in the area.
Lebanese media also reported that Israeli forces launched illumination flares over villages in the western and central sectors of southern Lebanon.

In the district of Bint Jbeil, Israeli forces were reported to have demolished several homes in the Al-Jabana neighbourhood, while additional shelling targeted the outskirts of Ghazieh at dawn.
The latest escalation comes despite a ceasefire agreement announced on April 17 and later extended until May 17. Cross-border violence, however, has continued on a near-daily basis.
According to Lebanese official figures, Israeli military operations in Lebanon since early March have killed at least 2,759 people, wounded more than 8,500 others and displaced over 1.6 million residents.
