Islamabad (TDI): Vice Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC), Sun Haiyan, met Pakistan’s Prime Minister as she is undertaking a visit to the country.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the Chinese dignitary and her delegation, and noted that the visit is particularly significant as both countries are celebrating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties this year.
Earlier this month, as Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister was in Beijing for the annual foreign ministers dialogue, the logo of the 75th anniversary was unveiled.
Throughout the ongoing year, many such visits and activities are planned as both countries attach great importance to their all-round partnership.
“On the economic partnership, the Prime Minister lauded China’s generous support to Pakistan, especially through CPEC and stressed upon the need to ensure timely implementation of the next phase of CPEC,” an official statement said regarding the meeting.
“He also reiterated his most cordial invitation to President Xi Jinping to undertake an official visit to Pakistan this year, as this was a special year and a milestone for both countries,” it added.
Vice Minister Haiyan congratulated PM Sharif for bringing economic as well as political stability in the country and said the Chinese nation took great pride in Pakistan’s diplomatic successes.
She briefed the Prime Minister that the Chinese Communist Party has maintained excellent ties with a wide range of political parties in Pakistan.
She also emphasized the significance of party-to-party ties and expressed the Chinese Communist Party’s commitment and resolve to deepen collaboration with political parties in Pakistan.
China’s ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, was also present and from Pakistan’s side, Prime Minister’s special assistant Tariq Fatemi, his special representative on China Ambassador Zafar Uddin Mahmood, and Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch took part in the meeting.
