Beijing (TDI): China has welcomed the 48-hour ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and Afghanistan, urging both sides to exercise restraint and work toward a lasting resolution through dialogue.

Responding to media queries on Thursday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said Beijing supports all efforts aimed at easing tensions and promoting regional peace and stability.

“Pakistan and Afghanistan are both friendly neighboring countries of China, and neighbors that cannot be moved,” the spokesperson said.

“China supports both sides in maintaining calm and restraint, achieving a comprehensive and enduring ceasefire, and addressing differences through dialogue and consultation.”

The statement emphasized that peace between the two nations aligns with the shared interests of all regional partners. “China welcomes and supports this positive development,” the spokesperson added.

Reaffirming Beijing’s commitment to regional stability, the spokesperson said China is willing to play a constructive role in improving and advancing relations between Islamabad and Kabul, with the broader goal of maintaining peace and stability in the region.
