New York, 8 October 2021 (TDI): UN News shared a newly launched UN initiative by the International Telecommunication Union. This new artificial intelligence (AI) technology will help in declining road deaths by refining the data collection and analysis, improving the road infrastructure, and developing the effectiveness of the post-crash response.
The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) contain emergency action to split the rate of road accidents and deaths annually all over the world and guarantee access to harmless, affordable, and sustainable transport by 2030.
However, faster progress on this AI technology is important to make this happen, particularly in developing states, where the majority of deaths happen on the roads every year, according to the newly launched initiative.
This new AI technology can help in various ways such as; data collection and analysis, enhancing road infrastructure, inspiring improvement in the regulatory frameworks, and developing the effectiveness of the post-crash response. Furthermore, this approach needs equitable data access and the decent use of algorithms that various states currently lack which led them incapable to identify road safety solutions.
