President Xi instructs Xiamen Airlines to foster Cross-Strait exchanges

Beijing, 25 July 2024 (TDI): President Xi Jinping, the President of China, has issued a direction to Xiamen Airlines, instructing the airline to actively contribute to the promotion of economic and social growth, as well as to foster exchanges and collaboration across regions on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.

Xi, who is both the general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the chairman of the Central Military Commission, issued these directives in a letter that was written to the employees of the airline on the occasion of the airline’s 40th anniversary. The letter was sent to the employees of the airline.

When it comes to integration and Cross-Strait exchanges, the city of Xiamen, which is located on the western side of the Strait, is at the forefront of the movement.

When Xi was serving as vice mayor of the city, he played a significant role in resolving several problems that Xiamen Airlines encountered in the beginning stages of its expansion.

The amazing success that Xiamen Airlines has achieved since its founding forty years ago was something that Xi witnessed with a great deal of happiness. Since its founding, Xiamen Airlines has accomplished a significant amount of market expansion.

As a result of Xi’s strong encouragement, the members of the staff were strongly encouraged to continue their commitment to reform and innovation, to improve the fundamental competitiveness of the airline, and to make additional contributions to the promotion of the high-quality growth of civil aviation and the strengthening of China’s transportation capacities.

In July 1984, Xiamen Airlines was created as the first airline in China to operate under a contemporary corporate structure. It is widely regarded as the pioneer in this particular industry.

At the moment, it is responsible to manage over 400 aircraft routes, across the nation as well as internationally, and it offers its services to around 40 million people on an annual basis.
