PM Pays Tribute to Migrants

Islamabad (TDI): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif marked International Migrants Day by paying tribute to the significant contributions of migrants globally and reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to protecting their rights, well-being and dignity.

In a special message, the prime minister emphasized the role of migrants in fostering prosperity for both their host countries and their states of origin.

He emphasized the significant contributions of Pakistan’s diaspora, whose remittances have been a cornerstone of the nation’s financial stability, and highlighted key initiatives aimed at facilitating and honoring their efforts.

For decades, Pakistan has been a welcoming host to migrants while also proudly witnessing its vast diaspora flourishing around the world.

Be it for education, business, employment, or tourism, overseas Pakistanis have made their mark as ambassadors of our nation, he said.

The PM said that the government was fully committed to empowering, facilitating, and protecting the welfare of overseas Pakistanis.

We have enacted the Special Court (Overseas Pakistanis Property) Act, 2024, ensuring full justice and protection the rights of overseas Pakistanis, he added.

Recognizing their treasured contributions, we have introduced the Mohsin-e-Pak Awards, a admired national honor to celebrate the services of our diaspora, both for Pakistan and their host countries, he said.

However, as we celebrate the resilience, strength, and achievements of migrants, we must also acknowledge the difficulties they face which includes distance, discrimination and exploitation, the PM said.

He said that it is our shared responsibility to ensure their dignity, safety, and inclusion, no matter where they are.
