Tehran (TDI): Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir met Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran during his official visit, according to Iranian media reports.
During the trip, he also visited the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, where he was received by its commander, Major General Ali Abdollahi.
The visit is part of Pakistan’s broader diplomatic efforts to turn the current two-week ceasefire between Iran and the United States into a more durable peace arrangement.
Field Marshal Munir arrived in Tehran on Wednesday along with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and a Pakistani delegation. They were welcomed by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi upon arrival.

As part of his engagements, the army chief held separate meetings with Araghchi and Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. Both officials had earlier participated in direct talks with a US delegation in Islamabad.
Pakistan hosted those talks on April 11, shortly after facilitating a two-week ceasefire between Washington and Tehran on April 8.
Officials suggest that the visit has contributed to narrowing differences between the two sides, raising hopes for extending the ceasefire and resuming negotiations.

US President Donald Trump has publicly appreciated Field Marshal Munir’s role in mediation efforts. In recent remarks, he described him in positive terms and indicated that Pakistan could again serve as a venue for future talks.
During the Islamabad negotiations, Field Marshal Munir played a central role in receiving and engaging with both delegations.
Trump has also highlighted his rapport with the Pakistani military leadership, developed during earlier Pakistan-India tensions, which has added to Islamabad’s visibility in ongoing diplomatic efforts.
