Doha, 8 September 2021 (TDI): The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State of Defense Affairs Khalid Bin Muhammad Attiyah and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Muhammad bin Abdul Rehman Al-Thani met the Secretary of State United States of America Antony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin in Doha. During the meeting, the dignitaries reviewed the bilateral cooperation between both countries.
Furthermore, they discussed the latest developments in the region mainly Afghanistan, and agreed that there should be an inclusive political settlement in Afghanistan. The US official thanked the State of Qatar for the safe evacuation of Americans and other nationals from Afghanistan and said that all countries worked for the safe evacuation of foreigners but none of them has done more than Qatar.
Talking about the relationship of both countries Secretary Blinken has said that our engagement is deeper than it has ever been and it’s not only about the matter Of Afghanistan but it covers many other issues of security, health, education or be the people to people talk. The US State Secretary also appreciated Qatar’s role in the peace negotiations of Afghanistan.
