Tehran (TDI): Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday held separate meetings with Iran’s senior civil and military leadership in Tehran as diplomatic efforts continued between Tehran and Washington over a possible agreement to end the ongoing conflict, Iranian state media reported.
During his second visit to Iran within a week, Naqvi met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Commander-in-Chief General Ahmad Vahidi, and Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni.
The meetings took place amid reports that negotiations involving regional mediators were moving toward the finalisation of a possible draft agreement between the United States and Iran.
According to reports by Al Arabiya and Al Hadath citing unnamed sources, another round of negotiations is expected to take place in Islamabad after the Hajj season, while discussions on the final wording of the proposed agreement continue.
The reports also suggested that a senior Pakistani figure could visit Tehran on Thursday as part of ongoing diplomatic engagement between the concerned parties.

Iran’s state news agency IRNA said President Pezeshkian discussed regional developments and the status of indirect Iran-US negotiations during his meeting with Naqvi.
The two sides also reviewed ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at following up on previous understandings reached through mediation channels.
According to the report, the Iranian president stressed the importance of continued dialogue, enhanced regional cooperation, and closer coordination among Islamic countries in dealing with regional challenges.
The latest diplomatic activity comes weeks after US President Donald Trump paused Operation Epic Fury under a temporary ceasefire arrangement, while negotiations have continued with limited progress despite international mediation efforts.
Speaking to reporters earlier, Trump said discussions with Iran were now in their “final stages” but warned that military action remained possible if diplomacy failed.

“We’re in the final stages of Iran. We’ll see what happens. Either have a deal or we’re going to do some things that are a little bit nasty,” Trump said.
According to Reuters, Trump also indicated that he had recently considered authorising further strikes against Iran but delayed any decision to allow more time for negotiations.
