Phnom Penh, 29 December 2021 (TDI): Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia Mikami Masahiro visited the Cambodian Prime Minister today.

The meeting was held at the residence of Cambodian Premier Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen. His residence is located in Takhmao town, Kandal province of Cambodia.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Hun Sen paid gratitude to the Japanese government for their continuous assistance to tackle the Covid-19 situation in the country.

He also appreciated Japan’s invitation to Lt. Gen. Hun Manet to visit the country. Lt. Gen. Hun Manet will be accompanied by Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) and Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army.

Cambodian Prime Minister also welcomed the upcoming docking of the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force ship in Cambodia.

Earlier the Japanese ambassador to Cambodia Mikami Masahiro brought in notice of Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen at a courtesy call today.

The meeting also allowed him to suggest an option to hold activities to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Peacekeeping Operations. It will strengthen and expand the cooperation between the two countries in the field of national defense.

Cambodia was also appreciating the Japanese sponsor for Sihanoukville Autonomous Port (PAS). The port has become a major port with the support of Japan.

They also encouraged both countries especially the relevant institutions to work together.

Japanese Ambassador

Moreover, the Japanese Ambassador met with the Cambodian Premier noted the regional cooperation especially in the ASEAN-Japan framework, during the meeting.

He also noted that his country has provided some vehicles and materials to the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The Ambassador also extended full support for the success of Cambodia’s ASEAN chairmanship.
