Manila, 24 December 2021 (TDI): Japan has provided emergency aid to the Philippines today. Japan supplied humanitarian assistance after Typhoon Odette-as is known in the Philippines-hit the Southeast Asian country.

The emergency assistance contains packages that include generators, sleeping mattresses, sleeping pads, dome tents for the affectees.

The Japanese government has provided rehabilitation aid through Japan International Cooperation Agency commonly known as JICA. JICA is Japan’s governmental agency that works to deliver the bulk of Official Development Assistance for the government of Japan.

The Agency is supposed to assist economic and social growth in developing countries. It also helps in the promotion of international cooperation.

The Embassy of Japan in the Philippines received the package of humanitarian assistance. Japanese Ambassador Koshikawa Kazuhiko received the aid. While JICA Chief Representative, Azukizawa Eigo was also there. The representatives from the Department of Foreign Affairs and DWSD also joined on the occasion.

DSWD is the executive department of the Philippine Government. It is responsible for the protection of the social welfare of rights of Filipinos. Moreover, the department promotes social development in the Philippines.

Super Typhon Rai

The Philippines has experienced severe destruction by Super Typhoon Rai locally known as Odette. As a result, an estimated idea noted almost 375 people have died of this calamity in the Philippines.

Philippine Red Cross is working accordingly to provide relief in destructed areas. Moreover, the United States is assisting the destructed regions of the Philippines due to calamity.

Earlier Korean Ambassador to the Philippines, Kim Inchul also pledged a donation of USD 2 million cash for the Philippines. The cash donation came as assistance in the aftermath of Typhoon Odette.
