Lahore, 20 August 2024 (TDI): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday launched the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” scheme aimed at providing interest-free housing loans to deserving families of the province.
The development comes a few days after she announced Rs14 per unit subsidy in power tariff for households using up to 500 units of electricity.

Speaking at the occasion, the chief minister said those who own from one to five marlas in urban areas and from one to ten marlas in rural areas will qualify for an interest-free loan amounting up to Rs1.5m issued by the provincial government for the construction of houses.
The Punjab’s chief minister also unveiled a Model House built under this housing program. She also inspected every corner of the facility quite thoroughly.
While on her visit, she visited various stalls dealing with construction and became interested in the IDAP stall where she watched live a 3D printer working. Also, she was taught about smart rock technology used to test concrete strength and told about environmentally friendly brick called Core Eco Block.
She hailed Housing Secretary Asadullah Khan and DG PHATA at his gathering near Aashiana Quaid.
