Beijing (TDI): Chinese President Xi Jinping has announced that China will provide $100 million in aid to Palestine to help alleviate the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and support the territory’s recovery and reconstruction, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Friday.
Speaking at a regular briefing, Lin Jian noted that President Xi made the announcement during a joint press meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, emphasizing that China and France will work together to achieve a comprehensive, just, and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue at the earliest possible date.
“It has been over two years since the most recent conflict in Gaza, which caused an unprecedented humanitarian crisis,” Lin said. “China is deeply concerned about the situation. Since the outbreak of the conflict, China has provided multiple batches of humanitarian supplies to Gaza through the UN, Egypt, Jordan, and other channels, which have been welcomed and appreciated by the Palestinian government and people.”

President Xi described the Palestinian issue as a test of the global governance system, calling on the international community to address its root causes, assume responsibility, and take effective action to redress historical injustices and uphold fairness and justice.
Lin Jian said China firmly supports the Palestinian people in reclaiming their legitimate national rights and will continue working with the international community to ensure a full and lasting ceasefire in Gaza, improve humanitarian conditions, and achieve an early political resolution based on the two-state solution.
