Both sides agreed that achieving this goal required continued coordination with provincial governments and relevant stakeholders to ensure effective implementation, especially in high-risk and underserved areas.

They reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s health systems and ensuring that gains made in public health are sustained.

Senator Aurangzeb thanked Gates for the Foundation’s recent communication supporting the digitization of Pakistan’s taxation system, describing it as a cornerstone of the government’s broader reform agenda.

He noted that enhancing domestic resource mobilization through transparency, technology, and improved compliance was being closely monitored at the highest levels of government.

Gates underscored that efficient and equitable tax systems are fundamental to building long-term economic self-reliance.

He highlighted that digital tools could play a transformative role in improving tax collection, strengthening governance, and ultimately enhancing public service delivery.

According to Gates, countries that succeed in mobilizing their own resources are better positioned to invest in health, education, and climate resilience without overreliance on external assistance.

The Finance Minister echoed these views, stating that improved fiscal resilience had already strengthened Pakistan’s ability to respond to economic shocks and climate-related challenges. He stressed that reforms aimed at transparency and long-term stability were essential for inclusive and sustainable growth.

Beyond taxation and health systems, the meeting explored opportunities to expand cooperation in areas such as local vaccine production and strengthening medical supply chains.

Both sides welcomed continued dialogue with relevant ministries and partners to identify practical solutions that support public health outcomes while building domestic capacity.
