Baku, 6 June 2024 (TDI): The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with Peter Siyarto, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary for the second strategic dialogue.
Following the initial one-on-one meeting between the ministers, the second session of the strategic dialogue commenced, featuring the active participation of delegations representing Azerbaijan and Hungary.
During the second strategic dialogue meeting, discussions centered around various topics including exploring potential growth avenues within the established strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Hungary.
Additionally, attention was given to matters concerning collaboration within regional and international organizations, forthcoming initiatives and endeavors, and an examination of the prevailing regional dynamics in the post-conflict period.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the significance of the political dialogue between Azerbaijan and Hungary, underscoring the mutual visits and exchanges, parliamentary diplomacy engagements, and the effectiveness of institutional mechanisms such as strategic dialogue and political consultations.
He further noted that these multifaceted approaches collectively contribute to the progressive development of partnership relations between the two countries.
Throughout the bilateral meeting between Azerbaijan and Hungary, discussions encompassed a wide range of topics, including economy, trade, investments, energy security, renewable energy resources, humanitarian affairs, education, culture, and more.
Opinions were exchanged on the various items on the agenda, reflecting the multidimensional nature of cooperation between the two nations.
Specifically, emphasis was placed on the importance of the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Governments of Azerbaijan and Hungary in terms of unlocking the potential for further enhancing economic relations.
Moreover, discussions revolved around exploring perspectives and strategies to bolster economic ties in this direction.
During the meeting, it was stressed that the advancement and transmission of renewable energy constitute vital components of our strategic partnership.
There was a consensus on the imperative to sustain efforts toward advancing the Black Sea submarine cable/Green Middle Corridor initiative in this regard.
The commendable cooperation and mutual support within the framework of regional and international organizations, particularly the United Nations (UN), the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), and the Organization of Turkic States, were highlighted during the discussions.
Detailed information regarding the prevailing conditions in the region during the post-conflict period, including the ongoing reconstruction and demining efforts in the liberated territories, as well as the status of the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, was thoroughly provided to the counterpart during the meeting.
Gratitude was expressed for Hungary’s contributions to the ongoing construction efforts, its support for regional peace initiatives, and its stance against actions that hinder the progress of the process.

Subsequently, the ministers proceeded to sign the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary on Consular Affairs, along with the protocol of the 2nd session of the Azerbaijan-Hungary Strategic Dialogue.
