Tashkent (TDI): Uzbekistan has strongly condemned the attempted drone attack directed towards the holy city of Makkah in Saudi Arabia, expressing solidarity with the kingdom and rejecting any actions that threaten holy sites, civilians or civilian infrastructure.
In a statement, Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said such actions were unacceptable and stressed the importance of protecting holy sites and civilian populations.
The ministry called on all sides to exercise maximum restraint, comply strictly with international law and respect the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of states.
Uzbekistan also voiced support for efforts to reduce tensions, prevent the further spread of the conflict and promote peace, security and stability in the region.
Tensions in the Middle East continue to raise concerns over the security of civilians and critical sites across the region.
The latest developments have also drawn international calls for restraint and respect for sovereignty and international law.

As regional tensions persist, countries are urging diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation and maintain peace and stability.
Saudi Arabia said on Tuesday that it intercepted and destroyed a Houthi drone south of the Islamic holy city of Mecca. However, Houthis, an Iran-backed armed group that controls much of western Yemen, denied targeting Mecca and accused Saudi Arabia of “fabrications and lies”.
“There is no threat whatsoever from Yemen to the holy sites. Our operations target their oil facilities and military bases, and are far removed from the holy places,” military spokesman Yahya Sarea said.
