Cairo, 25 July 2024 (TDI): The Arab League applauds Beijing’s declaration on Palestinian Unity on Wednesday, which aims to resolve divisions and enhance the unity of the Palestinian people.
A statement was issued by Saeed Abu Ali, the assistant secretary-general for Palestine and occupied Arab lands affairs of the Arab League. In the statement, Abu Ali expressed his appreciation for China’s historical attitude in support of the Palestinian cause. This position exemplifies the depth and strength of relations between Arab countries and China.
He stated that the Arab League (AL) expressed its appreciation for the efforts and steps taken by the Chinese leadership, as well as its unwavering commitment to defending the rights of the Palestinian people.
Abu Ali praised China’s efforts to support the Palestinian people’s just and legitimate struggle for an independent, sovereign Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. These efforts align with the relevant decisions of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.
From July 21 to 23, high-level officials of 14 Palestinian groups participated in a reconciliation conference in Beijing. During this dialogue, they signed a proclamation on the topic of ending division and establishing unity. The dialogue was organized at the invitation of the Chinese side.
In addition, all fourteen Palestinian factions have come together in Beijing for the very first time to engage in a discourse about reconciliation, which has brought a great deal of hope to the Palestinian people who have been suffering.

Wang Yi, the Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs, announced on Tuesday that China has taken a three-step strategy to find a solution to the Palestinian problem.
Wang stated that China has never had any self-interest regarding the Palestinian issue and has always been a staunch supporter of the Palestinian people in their efforts to restore their genuine national rights. He made this statement while pointing out that the Palestinian issue is at the centre of the Middle East issue.
