Astana (TDI): Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has proposed the creation of a unified digital trade space with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), aiming to strengthen economic integration and modernize regional trade systems.
Speaking at the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting in Astana, chaired by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Mirziyoyev highlighted the growing importance of digital technologies, logistics innovation, and industrial cooperation in shaping global competitiveness.
He said Uzbekistan’s cooperation with EAEU member states has developed into a comprehensive economic partnership, with rising trade volumes, expanding industrial ties, and increasing collaboration in sectors such as energy, services, and digital economy.
Mirziyoyev emphasized that technological transformation is now central to economic growth, noting that the recent Eurasian Economic Forum focused on artificial intelligence and digital development reflects this global shift.
He stated that Uzbekistan and the Eurasian Economic Commission are close to completing a three-year cooperation plan, and announced that Tashkent will host the next joint working group meeting, where a new roadmap for future cooperation is expected to be adopted.
A key proposal from the Uzbek leader was the establishment of a unified digital trade framework to enable barrier-free commerce between Uzbekistan and EAEU countries. This would include harmonizing e-commerce regulations, improving digital customs data exchange, and gradually recognizing electronic documents across borders.

He proposed creating a joint project office with the Eurasian Economic Commission to function as a single-window platform for coordinating high-tech initiatives and attracting investment through special industrial zones.
