Kuala Lumpur, 9 June 2022 (TDI): Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan was on an official two-day visit to Malaysia from 7th to 8th June. During the visit, he met with Malaysia’s King and other officials.


Meeting with King Al-Sultan Abdullah

Prince Faisal bin Farhan and King Al-Sultan Abdullah met at the royal palace in Kuala Lumpur to discuss bilateral ties and measures to improve collaboration between the two countries in many sectors to serve mutual interests.

Moreover, Prince Faisal delivered King Salman’s and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s greetings and their best wishes for Malaysia’s continued success and prosperity.

King Al-Sultan expressed his appreciation and sent greetings to the King and Crown Prince.

Meeting with the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Malaysia

Prince Faisal also met with Malaysia’s Prime Minister Ismail Sabri and Foreign Minister Dato’ Sri Saifuddin Abdullah. They exchanged views on regional and international issues of common interest and discussed bolstering cooperation between the Kingdom and Malaysia to serve both countries.

The Malaysian Foreign Minister called said the Prince’s visit is “a testament to the strong and longstanding ties between the two nations.” He announced that they had agreed to convene the first Saudi-Malaysian Coordination Council (SMCC) early next year, which will serve as an overarching bilateral platform for consultations in multiple sectors in post-pandemic recovery.

Furthermore, Malaysia expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s continued support to Malaysia to address the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meeting with the Minister of International Trade and Industry

In addition, Prince Faisal also met Minister of International Trade and Industry Mohamed Azmin Ali, who discussed the importance of developing aspects of cooperation in various fields to boost relations.

Azmin reiterated the government of Malaysia’s endorsement of the Kingdom’s bid as the host for the World Expo 2030 with the theme, “The Era of Change: Leading the Planet to a Foresighted Tomorrow”.
