Prime Minister of Ethiopia wrote an Open Letter to President of USA

Addis Ababa, 18 September 2021 (TDI): The Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed Ali, wrote an open letter to President Joe Bidden, the incumbent President of the United States of America, protesting against the recent policy of the USA against Ethiopia and cutting off military aid to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.

 

Initiating his letter, the Prime Minister stated about the displacement of children and women in the Afar and Amhara region. Also, he mentioned kids and women being used as cannons by the militant group TPLF in the region of Tigray.

The Prime Minister continued to let President Joe Bidden know about the violation of the civil, human, and political rights that the people of Ethiopia have been facing for almost three decades under TPLF. The Prime Minister, in his letter, summoned various western states, including the US, for showing very little or negligible resistance against the basic rights violators of the Ethiopian people.

The Prime Minister also talked about the awakening of the Ethiopian people during 2015-18, and formation of a new government, and the threats faced to it.

Additionally, the Prime Minister let the President know about their current success in election and people’s trust in the incumbent government. Furthermore, the Prime Minister wrote the President that how African nations, especially Ethiopia, are looking for US support under the new presidency. He expected the US presidency to usher in respect for the sovereignty of African nations.

Lastly, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali solicited the US President not to rush diplomatic decisions that may lead to catastrophic results for the African Nations. Ending his letter, the Prime Minister clarified that Ethiopia would not succumb to any pressure.
