Pakistan elected to IAEA’S Board of Governors

Vienna, 24 September 2021 (TDI): Pakistan has been granted to serve on the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) Board of Governors.

The decision was taken during the 65th General Conference of AIEA, being held from 20 to 24 September 2021 at the Vienna International Centre (VIC) in Vienna, Austria.

The election of Pakistan to serve on the board of governors is an acclamation of Pakistan’s role in promoting peaceful, safe and secure use of nuclear technology. Pakistan became its member in 1957, and is one of the founding members of IAEA.

IAEA is an international organization which was established in 1957, in Vienna.

It has 173 member states. It aims to ensure cooperation in the field of nuclear technology by promoting its peaceful, safe and secure use.
