Pakistan, Belarus accelerate bilateral cooperation

Islamabad, 4 July 2024 (TDI): Pakistan and Belarus have agreed to accelerate bilateral relations and cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.

The understanding of this effect was reached during the Sixth Round of Bilateral Political Consultations between Pakistan and Belarus. It was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Bilateral relations were the subject of discussion during the sixth round of Bilateral Political Consultations between Pakistan and Belarus, which was held in the federal capital.

According to an official press release, the two sides reviewed the entire range of bilateral relations, including political relations, high-level engagement and dialogue, trade and investment, military and security cooperation, education, and people-to-people contacts.

Furthermore, the two sides also agreed to continue cooperating at multilateral forums, including the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Additional Foreign Secretary Europe, Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan, led the Pakistani side. However, the side of Belarus was headed by the First Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergei Lukashevich. Ambassador Sergei Lukashevich also called on Foreign Secretary Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi.

During the Sixth Round of Bilateral Political Consultations, Bilateral areas of cooperation and important regional and global developments were discussed.

Additionally, the Foreign Secretary reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further expand and diversify mutually beneficial cooperation.

30th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations

Notably, the two countries are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year.

Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Pakistan, Andrei Metelitsa, said on Sunday that the 30th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Belarus and Pakistan would be a milestone for bilateral ties.

“During these three decades, diplomatic, economic and cultural relations between Pakistan and Belarus have been exemplary,” he said.

“July 3, Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus, is the day of liberation of our capital, Minsk, in 1944.” He said, “On the occasion of the Independence Day of Belarus, he sees the potential of further development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Pakistan.”
