EU, Turkmenistan Discuss Green, Digital Cooperation

Ashgabat (TDI): Turkmenistan and the European Commission have discussed collaboration on green and digital transformation, according to a statement by Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry.

The discussions took place during a meeting between Turkmenistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Myakhri Byashimova, and a delegation from the European Commission led by Dietmar Krissler, Head of the Central Asia Division of the European External Action Service.

Both sides addressed a broad range of topics aimed at enhancing cooperation, including regional security, climate change, and environmental protection.

Particular focus was placed on energy transportation and logistics, with discussions surrounding the launch of the Trans-Caspian Coordination Platform.

This initiative is seen as a crucial step towards fostering sustainable economic and social development in the region.

The meeting also touched upon interaction within the “Central Asia-European Union” format, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation.

The launch of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor (TITR) coordination platform had earlier been discussed during an official visit by the EU delegation, led by Commissioner for International Partnership Jutta Urpilainen, to Ashgabat.
