China, Japan Reach on Ten Consensuses

Beijing (TDI): Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs Takeshi Iwaya in Beijing on Wednesday, emphasizing the improvement and development of bilateral relations.

Noting that China-Japan ties are at a crucial stage of improvement and development, Li said Beijing is willing to work with Tokyo to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two nations, promote the sustained and healthy development of bilateral relations, and achieve more new results in pragmatic cooperation.

China and Japan are close neighbors that cannot be moved away from each other, and the two nations have made a sincere commitment to being cooperative partners rather than threats to each other, he said.

Iwaya said that Tokyo is willing to make joint efforts with Beijing to strengthen exchanges at all levels, particularly people-to-people exchanges, promote mutually advantageous cooperation and improve public opinion toward each other, widely advance strategic ties of mutual benefit, and build constructive and stable Japan-China relations, Xinhua reported.

Chinese FM Holds Talks with Japanese Counterpart

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Iwaya also held talks on Wednesday and the two foreign ministers participated in the second meeting of High-Level Consultation Mechanism on People-to-People and Cultural Exchanges between China and Japan, during which ten important consensuses were reached, the Chinese foreign ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

The ten consensuses reached by both sides include vigorously promoting youth exchanges, building more platforms for exchanges between their sister cities, deepening sports exchange and cooperation, supporting continued cooperation in the music, film, publishing, animation, and gaming industries, expand cooperation in media and think tanks, and engaging in exchanges between women’s organizations to share experiences on promoting the joint development of men and women, and the two nations will work together to make the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, a platform for communication and friendship between the peoples of two nations.
