It is pertinent to note that soon after a purported Chinese surveillance balloon was discovered transiting to sensitive areas in American airspace this week, the United States (US) Secretary of State, Antony Blinken postponed his trip to Beijing.
Pentagon officials revealed on Thursday that they were investigating a rumored Chinese surveillance balloon that had been seen flying over highly sensitive US territory at a high altitude.
Likewise, the Pentagon reported the discovery of a second balloon the following day over Latin America. Reports indicate that a balloon is passing through Latin America.
“As of right now, we believe it to be another Chinese spy balloon. At this time, we have no additional information to share.” Pat Ryder, Spokesman for the Pentagon, issued a statement.
