China and Somalia enjoy strong bilateral relations. Officially the relations between the two were established in 1960. The two allies collaborate in the domains of trade, economy, and security. The first trade agreement signed between China and Somalia was in 1963.
Somalia also actively campaigned for ending China’s diplomatic isolation and its membership in the United Nations. The two partners have also recently started conducting joint patrols in the Red Sea region.
