Islamabad, 17 February 2022 (TDI): Bill Gates, the Co-Chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) is on a visit to Pakistan. He paid a visit to the National Command Operation Center (NCOC) today.

He met with Asad Umar, the NCOC Chairman, and Dr. Faisal Sultan during his visit. Later, he along with his contingent also attended the NCOC morning session.

Bill Gates and his delegation were briefed about NCOC’s role and methodology as well as achievements ever since the beginning of the pandemic. Likewise, they were apprised about the recent Covid -19 situation across Pakistan.

In addition, the delegation was also informed about various Nonpharmaceutical Interventions (NPIs) placed by NCOC to prevent disease proliferation along with ensuring public safety and well-being.

In this context, a thorough appraisal of Pakistan’s actions against Covid-19 was presented to the Co-Chair of the BMGF and his accompanying delegation. They were also informed about genome sequencing (prevalence of different variants in the country).

Bill Gates expressed keen interest in varied endeavors by NCOC, especially smart lockdown and micro smart lockdown method’s enforcement efforts. Likewise, he was equally interested in Pakistan’s vaccine administration regime.

Aside from that, the Co-Chair of the BMGF commended Pakistan’s victory against Covid-19 in spite of resource impediments. He also appreciated Pakistan for introducing outstanding initiatives as well as criteria for public health safety.

The regime greatly facilitated NCOC in the formulation and implementation of a comprehensive Covid response. Bill Gates also shared his views on Covid-19, most specifically on the vaccination drive.

Whilst Asad Umar on his part lauded the efforts of the Co-Chair of the BMGF and his foundation to help Covid -19 endeavors in Pakistan. Asad Umar stated that the triumph against Covid-19 was due to a collective national response.

Furthermore, it was accomplished through an effective communication campaign devised by the NCOC. The campaign helped to inculcate trust amongst the masses for the National COVID response along with positive behavioral transformation to adhere to Covid protocols outlined by NCOC.
