Beijing, 24 August 2021 (TDI): The former Foreign Minister of China, Yang Jiechi, will attend the 11th BRICS meeting of NSAs (National Security Advisors) today via a video link. The Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, who is also chairing the meeting this year, invited Yang to attend the meeting. The main purpose of the meeting is to enhance the security cooperation among the member states: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
The meeting will feature a detailed discussion among the National security advisers over several topics. Security matters along with International, regional, and national level issues, health cooperation, and cooperation in the fields of cybersecurity and terrorism will also be the agenda of discussion in today’s meeting.
As per reports, the Afghan security situation will remain a highlight of the meeting this year. As for China, it has been very vocal about the current situation in Afghanistan and Yang Jiechi is likely to speak on the topic in today’s meeting.
