World Defense Show 2024 in Riyadh

Riyadh, 17 January 2024 (TDI): The World Defense Show 2024 (WDS) is a biennial defense and security exhibition held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. General Authority for Military Industries founded it. The event aims to showcase the technological advances in the defense sector worldwide.

The Director of the Office of Regional Security and Arms Transfer Laura Cressey arrived in Saudi Arabia to take part in the event. There, the US explored potential areas for future collaboration between Saudi Arabia and the US in terms of defense industries. This will further help in bilateral defense cooperation.

The American Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Michael Ratney lauded the event and said it is a fantastic opportunity for the US and the Kingdom to strengthen ties.

“This is a fantastic opportunity where the entire US Mission to deepen strategic partnerships, and expand commercial options for US industry can demonstrate enduring presence”, he added.

Reportedly, the US participation in the show was almost 40 percent which is more than at the last World Defense Show 2 years ago.

Furthermore, the strong US presence is a testament to the long-standing cooperation with Saudi Arabia in the defense sector. Also, this underscores the shared commitment to security and stability in the region.

According to the US Air Forces Central, the show allows foreign military and civilian decision-makers an opportunity to evaluate and compare US Air Force aircraft in a non-operational and threat-free environment.

The World Defense Show 2024 included a list of 770 exhibitors from more than 70 countries, to name a few; Pakistan, North Korea, China, Iran, France, UK, etc. on the five-day event from February 4th.

Lastly, numerous conferences took place on different topics. According to reports, the exhibition hosted the International Women in Defense Program which was led by Her Royal Highness Ambassador Reema Bandar Al-Saud.
