Islamabad, 17 May 2022 (TDI): The Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean (EMRO) of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr Ahmed Salim Al-Mandhari and the World Health Organization’s Representative in Pakistan, Dr Palitha Mahipala donated 4 ambulances.

The ambulances have been donated to the District Health Office (DHO) Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) so as to help with the timely referral of patients from primary healthcare to specialized care.

In another news, the Regional Director EMRO of WHO, along with WHO Pakistan Representative; Dr Palitha Mahipala inaugurated the refurbished Primary Healthcare Facility of Barakahu.

The Rural Health Centre of Barakahu is one of the 16 primary healthcare facilities in Islamabad that use a WHO sponsored electronic data management system to enable the availability of real-time data for decision making and planning.

Likewise, Dr Ahmed Al-Mandhari and Dr Palitha Mahipala inaugurated a renovated telemedicine clinic for integrated Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Services at PHC Level in Barakahu.

The telemedicine clinic will provide psychosocial support, mental health, and referral services for GBV. Dr Al-Mandhari alongside WHO Pakistan Representative also inaugurated a Nutrition Stabilization Centre.

The Centre is at Federal Government Polyclinic Maternal and Child Health Centre. It is providing specialized life-saving treatment as well as care to severely and acutely malnourished children with complications.
