Starting a business is often the beginning of a journey filled with opportunities as well as challenges. For early-stage entrepreneurs, having a promising idea is only one part of the process. Finding investors, building connections, understanding new markets and gaining the right exposure are equally important for turning an idea into a successful business.
The upcoming Trade, Export and Innovation (TEI) Forum 2026, scheduled to take place on October 30–31 at the Baku Congress Center in Azerbaijan, will provide a platform for emerging entrepreneurs to connect with international business leaders, investors and industry experts.
Organized by the Founder Club, the two-day forum is expected to welcome participants from more than 30 countries, bringing together businesses at different stages of development. Through discussions, exhibitions and networking opportunities, the event aims to encourage international cooperation and help businesses explore new markets.
For startup founders who are still establishing themselves, such gatherings can provide valuable exposure to people and organizations that may contribute to their future growth.
One of the key highlights of the forum will be Startup School 4 Demo Day, which will bring emerging entrepreneurs into direct contact with the wider investment and business community. The Demo Day is part of the Startup School 4: Five Continents – 500 Startups initiative, supported through Enterprise Azerbaijan, which focuses on developing entrepreneurial skills and encouraging innovation.
The program has organized nearly 50 training and information sessions, attracting more than 3,000 participants, according to the organizers. During the Demo Day, selected startups will have an opportunity to present their business ideas, introduce their products and explain their plans for future development.
The event is expected to connect participants with more than 500 business and investment representatives. For young entrepreneurs, presenting their ideas before an international audience can help them receive feedback, better understand investor expectations and identify areas where their businesses can improve. It also allows them to learn from the experiences of other founders who may be facing similar challenges in developing their enterprises.
Another important aspect of TEI Forum 2026 will be the opportunity to build professional connections through business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2G) meetings. These meetings are particularly useful for small businesses that are looking to expand but may not have access to established international networks.
Through B2B interactions, entrepreneurs can meet potential investors, suppliers, distributors and business partners, while B2G meetings can help them understand government policies, investment opportunities and the requirements for entering new markets.

The forum will also provide opportunities to exchange ideas with representatives from different industries, including technology, trade, logistics and export development. For an early-stage founder, even one meaningful connection can open doors to future cooperation, whether through a business partnership, investment opportunity or access to a new market. Such platforms also allow entrepreneurs to understand how businesses operate in other countries and what they need to consider when planning international expansion.
Azerbaijan’s growing entrepreneurial sector provides an important background for the upcoming forum. The country has been working to strengthen its small and medium-sized enterprises as part of its efforts to diversify the economy and encourage private-sector development.
According to Azerbaijan’s Small and Medium Business Development Agency, the number of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises reached 424,437 in 2024, an increase of 5.8 percent compared with the previous year. Their contribution to economic value added reached approximately 21.1 billion Azerbaijani manats, while employment in the sector increased to 417,800 people.
These figures highlight the growing role of smaller businesses in supporting economic activity and creating employment opportunities. Azerbaijan’s location between Europe and Asia also makes it an important destination for businesses interested in regional trade and connectivity.
For international entrepreneurs, the country’s developing business environment offers opportunities to explore partnerships, exchange knowledge and establish connections with companies operating across different markets.
For founders attending TEI Forum 2026, the value of participation will not be limited to the two days of discussions and presentations. The opportunity to meet investors, learn from other entrepreneurs and establish professional relationships can support their business development long after the event concludes.
Startup School 4 Demo Day will provide a platform for innovative ideas, while the forum’s B2B and B2G meetings will encourage direct engagement between businesses and institutions.
As Azerbaijan continues to develop its entrepreneurship ecosystem, such international gatherings can contribute to stronger business networks and cooperation across borders.
