Riyadh (TDI): Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia have solidified economic ties with a projected $2.5 billion investment commitment by the end of the year, following meetings between Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and top Saudi officials at the Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh.
During his visit, President Mirziyoyev met Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Investments Khalid al-Falih, with discussions focusing on deepening trade, expanding cooperation, and increasing flights between the two nations.
The Saudi investment aims to support critical sectors in Uzbekistan, including green energy, healthcare, transport infrastructure, heat and water supply, agriculture, housing, and the communal economy.

President Mirziyoyev also held talks with Crown Prince and Prime Minister Muhammad bin Salman, emphasizing ongoing collaboration with ACWA Power, a leading Saudi company investing in Uzbekistan’s energy modernization with advanced technologies.
The discussions highlighted Uzbekistan’s plans to boost wind and solar power generation across the country and accelerate green hydrogen projects.

An agreement was also reached to involve Saudi companies in localizing production and improving energy efficiency across Uzbek industries.
