Islamabad, 6 September 2021 (TDI): Asim Iftikhar, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, extended his heartfelt gratitude to wrestler Inam Butt for securing the gold medal at the World Beach Wrestling Series 2021, held in Rome, Italy.
The Beach Wrestling World Series was introduced in 2018 by the United World Wrestling (UWW). The prominent feature of this series is the venue of the beaches where the athletes are provided with the opportunity to do the wrestling in a traditional style, that’s on the sand. Wrestling on sand is one of the most ancient and traditional sports that is practiced in Pakistan mainly in the regions of Punjab and Sindh.
This is yet another major achievement for Pakistan after Haider Ali won the first-ever gold medal in Paralympics Men’s Discus Throw. The Pakistani athletes are making the Pakistani nation proud all over the world.
