Cuba Participates in 60th Anniversary of NAM

Belgrade, 6 September 2021 (TDI): Cuban Ambassador Gustavo Trista participated in the online conference marking the 60th anniversary of the First Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit in Belgrade and reiterated the relevance of the Non-aligned Movement.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Trista underscored the event as an important part of history. He also highlighted in the online conference that Cuba will not give in to the US pressures and threats. He also said that the powerful states still dominate, exploiting raw materials of the less developed and impose wars in the name of counter-terrorism and protection of human rights and freedom.
It is to be noted that Washington imposed a new set of sanctions on Cuba this July following the protests in Cuba against the current communist government. Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodgriguez in response rejected the sanctions and stated that the USA should rather impose sanctions on itself for police brutality and everyday repression that claimed lives of 1021 lives in the year 2020.
