PM Shehbaz, President Aliyev Pledge Deeper Pakistan-Azerbaijan Ties

Tianjin (TDI): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit of heads of state in Tianjin, China.

During the discussion, Prime Minister Sharif congratulated President Aliyev on the recent peace accord signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia, describing it as an important milestone for lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus.

The two leaders reviewed the entire range of bilateral cooperation, including trade, investment, energy, connectivity, defense, education, and people-to-people linkages.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the upward trajectory of relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

They emphasized the importance of regional connectivity projects and reaffirmed their commitment to closer collaboration within multilateral platforms, particularly the SCO, to enhance regional prosperity and integration.

The two also exchanged views on global challenges and agreed to maintain regular coordination at international forums.

President Aliyev conveyed his condolences over the loss of lives and destruction caused by the ongoing floods in Pakistan, assuring that the government and people of Azerbaijan stand firmly with Pakistan in this difficult time.

Prime Minister Sharif extended an invitation to President Aliyev to visit Pakistan in the near future.
