Beijing (TDI): China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi has praised Pakistan for its proactive diplomatic engagement aimed at promoting peace in the Middle East.
The remarks were made during his meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in Beijing, where both sides also unveiled a five-point initiative focused on restoring stability in the region.
The meeting was held in a warm and cordial atmosphere, with both leaders discussing evolving developments in West Asia as well as reviewing bilateral relations. Dar briefed his Chinese counterpart on Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to encourage a ceasefire and revive dialogue, including a recent quadrilateral meeting in Islamabad involving Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Egypt.
Both sides expressed concern over the broader regional security situation and its economic and social impact, particularly on developing countries. In response, they jointly proposed steps aimed at de-escalation, including an immediate halt to hostilities and the early initiation of peace negotiations.

The two ministers also reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation, noting the growing momentum in ties between Pakistan and China. They reaffirmed their commitment to advancing strategic collaboration, particularly under the framework of CPEC 2.0, while highlighting the importance of high-level exchanges as both countries mark 75 years of diplomatic relations.
Dar thanked Wang Yi for the warm reception and hospitality extended during the visit and appreciated the support provided by Pakistan’s diplomatic team in Beijing.
In addition to Middle East developments, the two leaders exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan and emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and effectively addressing the challenge of terrorism.
Pakistan’s recent diplomatic efforts, including its offer to facilitate dialogue between the United States and Iran, have received international backing, particularly from China, which has encouraged continued engagement and dialogue.

Earlier discussions between the two sides also highlighted that initiating peace talks would be challenging but could help stabilize the region, including ensuring the safe flow of trade through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
Both countries agreed to remain in close contact as they continue efforts to promote regional stability and strengthen bilateral cooperation.
