Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan convened senior diplomats from Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Egypt, on Tuesday, in a fresh push to coordinate regional responses to escalating tensions in the Middle East.
It is noteworthy that Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has departed just today for a three-nation official visit covering Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Qatar.
Meanwhile, foreign ministers of the aforementioned countries are meeting in Antalya, Turkiye on Friday on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum; and in continuation of the quadrilateral dialogue – two sessions of which have already took place in Riyadh and Islamabad since the start of the Iran war.
The Islamabad gathering of diplomats brought together high-level representatives from the four countries as a follow-up to foreign ministers’ talks on March 29 in Pakistan.
It comes at a time of heightened volatility and while the ceasefire still remains fragile as Pakistan and other aligned countries try to broker some kind of breakthrough between Iran and the US before the truce expires on April 21.

According to Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, the diplomats focused on “enhancing coordination” to promote security and stability amid the ongoing crisis.
Discussions centered on aligning diplomatic approaches and assessing developments across the Middle East, where conflicts and geopolitical rivalries continue to ripple beyond the region.
Pakistan’s delegation was led by Ambassador Tahir Andrabi, while other delegations included senior figures such as Türkiye’s Deputy Foreign Minister Musa Kulaklikaya, Egypt’s Assistant Foreign Minister Nazih El-Naggari, and Saudi Arabia’s Prince Dr. Abdullah bin Khalid bin Saud Al-Kabeer.
“Deliberations at the SOM will be submitted for consideration at the forthcoming Foreign Ministers meeting of the four brotherly countries, scheduled to be held in Antalya, Türkiye on 17 April 2026, on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF),” the ministry’s statement read.
By hosting the meeting, Islamabad signaled its intent to play a more proactive role in regional diplomacy, working alongside key Muslim-majority nations to manage instability and prevent further escalation.
